Technology giant Google applied for a license from the US government, and after the US government imposed in mid-May 2019 a ban on some Chinese companies that work with American companies, which the company was forced Huawei to abandon the popular Google applications for the Android operating system.
And the American research giant wants to continue working with Huawei, so I applied for an exemption from the US government to resume working with the Chinese company Huawei, and only a few days after warning users of the new Huawei devices to avoid downloading their applications in an unofficial manner for security reasons.
Sameer Samat, Vice President of Google for Google Play and Android Store, revealed the request while speaking with the German News Agency (DPA), although he did not mention when a decision will be taken on the request.
And in the event that the search giant is granted the required exemption, Huawei can update its current devices immediately to obtain Google mobile services, meaning that applications and services such as the store, maps, YouTube and Gmail can be run on smart phones running Android from Huawei.
In November 2019, Microsoft was granted a similar license to continue charging Windows operating systems with Huawei products from laptops, such as MateBook 13, as Huawei was considering launching both the MateBook D and MateBook X Pro with the Linux system.
Huawei, since forced to abandon Google mobile services and the Google Play App Store, had to develop an alternative for them, namely Huawei Mobile Services and AppGallery.
It is unclear how the trade embargo will affect Huawei’s business, as the company has so far launched only two devices without Google services for Android, the Mate 30 and the Mate XS foldable.

It is possible that the sales of Huawei phones in the West are supported by the ability to access a wide range of applications available on the Google Play Store, not to mention the support of Google applications such as Gmail, YouTube and Maps.
While Huawei is trying to expand the applications available quickly on its store (AppGallery), the Chinese company’s store suffers from the absence of some of the most popular applications, including WhatsApp, Instagram, Netflix and Facebook Messenger.
It is noteworthy that Huawei in mid-2018 surpassed Apple to become the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, after Samsung.
