Global tech giant Google is likely to start Google Pay services in Pakistan, as the information, we have learned from sources.
If sources are to be correct, then the intent was communicated to government officials of Pakistan (Mr. Waseem Akhtar) in a meeting earlier today.
Timeline for this is yet not clear, however, it seems that the actual launch of Google Pay in Pakistan could take several months, and this process is still in initial stages.
In a separate meeting, the Google team met with Minister for IT and Telecom of Pakistan Waseem Akhtar and brief the minister that company is also looking forward to starting a training programme for imparting basic digital expertise to the people in Pakistan.
They also discussed issues relating to social media, e-commerce, digital expertise, and digital payments.
The Federal IT Minister appreciated Google and assured his ministry’s full support for the initiatives.
