With this, OLX saw a growing need for cybersecurity and developing users trust in online products and services, that can only happen if top technology brands in the country are able to bridge the gap between the online and offline world to develop trust and safety infrastructure.

Talking about the initiative, Jawad Zeb OLX brand Manager said, “There are more than 70,000 conversations that are taking place daily on OLX and 70 percent of all items that are posted on OLX are estimated to be sold in the real world. Normally users select neutral locations on the roadside to exchange goods. We always promote and educate safe transaction methods to keep our users safe and encourage them to buy/sell items in public place. This ‘safe exchange point’ is an effort to further educate our users to do their transactions at a public place like malls and cafes.”

He also informed that this is a part of OLX’s global initiative under which OLX exchange points are also being made in Portugal and other European countries where safety is becoming the top consumer requirement. OLX has also formed a global central team to tackle this issue of customer trust and safety where different technological initiatives are taking place in parallel using AI and machine learning algorithms to identify fraud.
